Our standard lens is a basic plastic lens (often sold as a 1.5 CR 39). This is a low cost entry solution used by many opticians and On-Line retailers for normal prescriptions. It can be Tinted, UV, AR and Hard coated. (Please note that we do not recommend AR coating with Tinting) This solution is available from SpecsLab.co.uk starting at just £15.00 including any of our Full Rim range of frames.

However here at SpecsLab.co.uk our Opticians prefer to recommend the 'Thin and Lite' plastic lens (often sold as a 1.6). This comes with an ARC (anti reflection coating), UV and Hard coating as standard and is perfect for near sighted, distance or reading requirements as well as higher prescription needs. These lenses allow you the wearer a lighter, thinner and more attractive pair of glasses. This solution is extremely cost effective, with these glasses costing £29.95 with any of our Full Rim Frames, £39.95 with any of our Semi Rimless Frames or £59.95 with any of our Rimless Frames.

For higher prescriptions we offer our 'Super Thin' 1.67 index lens plastic lens. These also come with an ARC (anti reflection coating), UV and Hard coating as standard. As an added benefit, if these lens are fitted to one of our Rimless frame options we also polish the edge of the lens giving total transparency when they are worn. This means an end to "bottle top" lenses, giving you the wearer style and comfort at an extremely affordable price.

Our basic plastic lenses range from 0.00 to -6.00 spherical and 0.00 to +6.00 spherical, all available in 0.25 steps. The cylindrical range or astigmatic range as it is also known is: 0.00 to -4.00 spherical with cylindrical power up to -2.00, or its equivalent 0.00 to -6.00 with cylindrical power up to +2.00 and also in 0.00 to +4.00 spherical with cylindrical powers up to +2.00 or its equivalent of 0.00 to +6.00 with cylindrical power up to -2.00: all available in 0.25 steps.

Our 'Thin and Lite' 1.6 index lens has a comprehensive and extremely high quality range, which we strongly recommend, as opticians. These lenses have as standard, an Anti-Reflection coating, which reduces glare and is cosmetically enhancing. They also come standard with an Ultra-Violet protection coating to protect your eyes from harmful U.V. A and or U.V. B rays whether from the sun or any other U.V. source, then they are Hard Coated which helps minimize scratches on the lenses. Finally and obviously they are also much thinner than the basic plastic lens making them lighter, more comfortable to wear and cosmetically more attractive.
This range comes from 0.00 to -6.00 spherical and 0.00 to +4.50 spherical, available in 0.25 steps. The cylindrical/astigmatic range starts from 0.00 to -4.00 spherical with cylindrical power up to -2.00 or its equivalent 0.00 to -6.00 with cylindrical power up to +2.00; and in 0.00 to +2.00 spherical with cylindrical power till +2.00 or its equivalent 0.00 to +4.00 with cylindrical power up to -2.00: all available in 0.25 steps.

Our Super Thin 1.67 index range of lens have exactly the same features as the 'Thin and Lite' 1.6 range but are even thinner. This type of lens is recommended to persons with a high-powered prescription or for people who simply want one of the thinnest lenses available on the market. The range covered starts from -3.00 to -15.00 for spherical lenses, available in 0.25 steps.

The cylindrical/astigmatic range starts from 0.00 to -8.00 spherical with cylindrical power up to -4.00 or its equivalent 0.00 to -12.00 with cylindrical power up to +4.00: all available in 0.25 steps.

As professional Opticians we can also supply on special order astigmatic cylindrical lenses ranging from -8.25 to -12.00 spherical to a maximum of -2.00 cylinder; available in 0.25 steps, in a 1.67 index lens; or its equivalent -8.25 to -14.00 to a maximum of +2.00 cylinder.

Our Photo-Chromatic or Transition Lens are available in Grey or Brown and also come in a 'Thin and Lite' option.

The normal range is 0.00 to -6.00 spherical and 0.00 to +4.00 spherical, in 0.25 steps. The cylindrical/astigmatic range is 0.00 to -4.00 spherical with cylindrical power up to -2.00, or its equivalent 0.00 to -6.00 spherical with cylindrical power up to + 2.00, and 0.00 to +2.00 spherical with cylindrical power up to +2.00, or its equivalent 0.00 to +4.00 with cylindrical power up to -2.00, all in 0.25 steps.

The extended range "specials" is as follows: Spherical power from -6.25 to -10.00 and +4.25 to +7.00, all in 0.25 steps.

The cylindrical/astigmatic range is as follows: 0.00 to -6.00 spherical with cylindrical power to -4.00, or its equivalent 0.00 to -10.00 with cylindrical power up to +4.00, and 0.00 to +6.00 spherical with cylindrical power up to +4.00, or its equivalent 0.00 to +10.00 with cylindrical power up to -4.00, all in 0.25 steps.
